Melrose Park, Ill. – Ruth Matthei has been named Chief Nursing Officer for Westlake Hospital, effective July 10, 2014. Matthei has served in nursing and quality leadership roles at Westlake Hospital for the past eight years, most recently serving as Director of Quality and as Interim Chief Nursing Officer.

Matthei brings 30 years of healthcare leadership experience and an in-depth knowledge of regulatory standards, as well as best practices for patient-centered care and nursing quality. She earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work from George Williams College in Downers Grove, and a diploma in nursing from Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn. Licensed as a Registered Nurse and Clinical Social Worker in the State of Illinois, Matthei also received a certificate in Family Therapy from the Philadelphia Child Guidance Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
