Lucien R. Duhem

A Forest Park man, pulled over for chatting on a cell phone while driving Sunday, has been linked to a robbery/murder Chicago police said.

Lucien R. Duhem, 23, of the 600 block of North Lathrop was charged July 17 with two counts of unlawful sale of a firearm and one count of filing a false police report in January.

Duhem told police last January his parked 2005 Pontiac had been burglarized overnight behind his residence. He claimed his “Hi Point” 9mm handgun and some ammo were stolen. In fact, Chicago police said, Duhem sold the gun – without asking for proof of a FOID card and without paying taxes.

The man who ended up with the weapon, Matthew X. Jackson, 25, was arrested in the Feb. 21 robbery and killing of David Easterling, who was a bodyguard for the rapper Twista.

On Sunday, Duhem was driving a 2009 Blue Chevy Aveo in Forest Park around the 1400 block of Elgin Avenue. He was pulled over for talking on a cell phone while driving. Police recovered 21 Xanax pills from Duhem and linked him to the sale of the gun that killed Easterling.

Easterling’s body was found shot to death in a South Side apartment where a fire was burning. Easterling had worked for Twista. He had been missing for three days.

Jackson was charged with Easterling’s robbery and murder.

Duhem is being held on $100,000 bail for failing to require a FOID card for a gun sale and selling a firearm before the 72 hours required to register for a FOID.
