Gerald D. Bennett, age 83, a longtime resident of Forest Park died Sept. 2, 2014 at Loyola Hospital. Bennett was active with the American Legion as a faithful veteran, having served in Korea with the US Air Force. He was also an avid hunter. He was a longtime employee with Mohr Oil Company, and a served Elmhurst College as the Chief Operating Engineer. Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife Mary; children, Dale, Gale Garces, and Tina Sweda; as well as seven grandchildren and two brothers. He was preceded in death by three other siblings and a son-in-law. A visitation will be held Friday Sept. 12 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 W. Cermak Rd., Forest Park from 3-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be said on Saturday Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Church in River Forest. Please omit flowers.
