The Cook County Sheriff’s Department implemented a precautionary lockdown at Proviso East today at approximately 11a.m. Thursday, after getting reports that a knife was seen on campus, according to a statement released by District 209.

“The premises were secured and the allegations were unfounded,” the statement read. “All students, faculty, and staff are safe. Proviso East will have the presence of additional security and law enforcement as a precautionary caution upon dismissal.”

This lockdown comes only one day after Proviso West High School in Hillside was placed on lockdown after a bullet was found on the cafeteria floor. A juvenile was taken into custody in connection to that incident. More as this story develops.
