Forest Park Kiwanis Peanut Day had its biggest collection in recent memory Sept. 25-28, said President Bill Gerst. Twice as many groups participated as last year, Gerst said, including Boy Scout Troop 107, Cub Scout Pack 109, Proviso East High School ROTC, Forest Park Little League, Forest Park Youth Soccer Assn., Historical Society of Forest Park, Forest Park Middle School Boosters and Windmills Softball. Participating groups keep a portion of the collection. Gerst said Forest Park Kiwanis raised more than $8,000 over Peanut Day weekend — double the amount raised last year.
