George H. Barringer passed away on Sept. 30, 2014 at age 84. George was born in Rural Retreat, Virginia and grew up in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He served in the Korean Conflict as a Navy Radioman from 1951 to 1954. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Economics at Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina. On Oct. 28, 1960 George married the love of his life, Alvira Jane Lee, in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Together, they moved to Forest Park where they raised their family. He worked as an accountant in the Chicago area and retired in 1996. George was passionate about his faith and enjoyed reading, ballroom dancing and travel. A memorial service was held at Highland Cemetery in Lily, South Dakota on Oct. 4.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Alvira Jane Lee, parents Benjamin Sr. and Lorena, brothers Benjamin Jr., Paul, Joseph and Jackson. He is survived by daughters Karen Dubinoff (Ronnie) of Lisle and Sonja Carlson (Jerry) of Plymouth, Minnesota and grandchildren Jenna, Lauren and Jack Dubinoff.
