OK. Now we have a Comprehensive Plan that has looked afresh at the verdant Altenheim property. Three options, says the consultant: Keep it green. Sell it off for low density housing. Sell it off for subsidized senior housing. To that you could add turn it into a cement plant, a Dick’s Sporting Goods or the official mayoral residence.
What’s clear to us after nearly a decade and a half since the village bought the property is that Tony Calderone’s initial impulse to grab and preserve this last large undeveloped parcel was dead on. So the only question is why in 14 years Calderone and other village leaders have not made a plan for its long-term recreational use and funding.
No more procrastinating. What’s the plan?
