Another Cindy Lyons Health Fair is history thanks to all the hard working volunteers and Howard Mohr community center workers. I met Dan Bjornson and his daughter Kristen coming to get some health tips. Janet Paulin and Angela Hicks are getting acquainted as Angela prepares to get some information about what’s available. You’re covered from the tip of your head to the soles of your feet and everything in between at this annual event. You can even get advice on caring for your dog and cat. Thank you to the staff . This one of Forest Park’s best activities.
After your health issues are taken care of let’s get over to the Forest Park Bank for some advice on what to do with your money. While counting the $$ in your wallet, you might just look up and see Bobbie Raymond’s lovely sunflower paintings. She’s practically another Van Gogh, well, Forest Park/Oak Park version. See these lovely paintings for yourself.
If the cold weather hasn’t put you in the mood for the season, try some music. The Michael Teolis Singers will perform at the First United Methodist Church Saturday, Dec. 6, 7 p.m. The Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest concert is Sunday afternoon, 4 p.m. at Dominican University, Lund Hall. Schumann’s Rheinish Symphony, Mozart Piano Concerto #24 and Sibelius Symphony #7 make up the program.
Or you can try to get in to Fitzgerald’s to hear Ramsey Lewis! Ramsey Lewis! Right here on Nov. 22. He’s a proud Fenwick alum, performing for a fundraiser, the Fenwick High School Father’s Club. Find out more info here: https://friarsonline.com/friarfest2014.
You can make your own music with the others at First United Methodist Church, 324 Oak Park Avenue on Dec. 7, 3:30 p.m. as everyone joins in singing Handel’s Messiah (Do It Yourself). There’s lots more music for us to enjoy, see the many posters around town.
The main event this week is Tom Holmes discussion and signing of his book Forty Days Alone in Thailand with a discussion of Pluralism. This happens on Sunday, Nov. 23rd at Centuries and Sleuths at 2 p.m. See you there!
Unfortunately that’s the same day the Oak Park Concert Chorale will perform at Saint John under the direction of Paul Lindblad. This will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday Nov.23.
