Chris Harris chose to run for mayor in the April 7, 2015 election. He withdrew his paperwork for the commissioner race Tuesday at Village Hall.
Dec. 15, Harris, along with incumbent Anthony Calderone, filed petitions.
Five candidates are left in the running for the other four council seats. These are incumbents Mark Hosty and Tom Mannix, and hopefuls Joe Byrnes, Rachell Entler and Daniel Novak. No petition challenges were filed by 5 p.m., Village Clerk Vanessa Moritz confirmed.
If he fails to win in a mayoral race, Harris will no longer serve on the council.
“I’m really looking forward to the 2015 election,” Harris texted. “It’s an exciting time for Forest Park’s future.”
