Sue Bothie knows what retirement is for — travel! Sue is back from her extensive road trip to Florida where she visited many old friends from Forest Park, including Sandy Boy on Marco Island. Sue also spent time with Lou and Rich Cirrintano and their birds. Maybe by next week there will be a picture for you of the Cirrintanos and two of their feathery friends.

The death of Theresa Giglio got past me somehow. I am heartbroken and wish sincere sympathy to her family and host of friends. Theresa was such a special person, and much loved by all who knew her, especially the Grant-White School community.

Sympathy to Sandy Hernandez at Forest Park National Bank. Sandy’s much beloved brother, Tony Hernandez, also died last week. Sandy will be back this week, but it will be a long time before life gets back to normal. 

The house on Ferdinand was splitting at the seams last Sunday when all the Goodmans, Osborns, Scollards, Smiths, etc. got together to celebrate birthday #2 for Victoria Osborn and #3 for Autumn Smith (mother, Cathy Goodman), and #9 for Ava Lin Scollard. Grandma and Grandpa Laura and Ben Goodman threw open the doors and welcomed all the families and friends.

With the thermometer staying way down low and all this ice and snow on the ground, it’s hard to believe spring is almost here. The official start of the season is just 17 days away and our annual St. Patrick’s Day parade arrives, right on schedule this Saturday, in the midst of sleet, snow, hail, what have you.

The OPRF High School wrestling team won its second straight Dual-Team State Title. These Huskies celebrated their victory in Forest Park at
FatDuck, last Saturday night.

    Jackie is a former Chicago and Elmwood Park schoolteacher with an undying love for music, friendly pets and a host of life’s other treasures too numerous to list. She was born on the far southwest side of Chicago in a great neighborhood when it was a great time to be young.
