Congratulations to Grandma May Bill and the entire Bill-Fink family on the achievement of daughter-in-law Angie Fink who received her PhD from Concordia University last weekend. Angie, wife of Corey Fink, is principal of Marengo High School in Marengo, Illinois.

Welcome to Forest Park newcomers Mary and Jon Reyes who were strolling up the avenue and especially checking out our famous bookstore, Centuries & Sleuths, last Sunday. We like them and they like us so let’s hope it’s a long and happy relationship between the Reyes and Forest Park.

Congratulations to newlyweds Victor Martial and Elizabeth Martin who were married last Wednesday, May 5. The couple lives in Oak Park and Victor can be seen behind the counter at Schauer Hardware

Good news! Wayne and Marie Beckmann are staying in Forest Park. It’s Indiana’s loss, but too bad; we’re keeping them here.

Speedy get-well wishes to Sandy Byrnes who underwent some hip surgery last week. Augie Aleksy had the same procedure a few weeks ago and is now able to do the Highland Fling (well, almost). In a few weeks he and Sandy can perform for us.

You are invited to attend the 4th annual spring concert given by the Senior Suburban Orchestra at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 5211 Carpenter St., at the corner of Grove in Downers Grove. Light refreshments will be served; no admission but donations are cheerfully accepted. There will be a guest appearance by the “élan” dance company of the Naperville Park District.

Remember the Senior Moments Club at the library? Under the leadership of Diane Collins, the group will discuss The Rosie Project by Graeme C. Simsion on Thursday, May 21 from 1 until 2:30 p.m. The first 10 readers will receive a free copy of the book. 

As Officer Morrissette kept law and order, the Soap Box Derby began right on time last Saturday down the north side of the Circle Avenue Bridge. Among the participants were Storey Novak and Peyton Brown. No word yet on the winner.
