Police impersonator attempts traffic control

Petra Villa, of Berwyn, has been charged with two felony counts of impersonating a police officer. The 33-year-old woman accosted a driver at the intersection of Cermak Road and Harlem Avenue while displaying a golden badge with engraved text stating “Universal Protection Officer” on July 11 around 8 a.m. Witnesses told officers Villa became angry at the driver for not turning right while stopped at a red light. Villa explained to officers she used to work at the Lake County Detention Center. 

Hit and run

A 27-year-old Chicago man, Melvin Hubbard, has been charged with one count of vehicular hit and run after his 2007 red Chevy Impala struck two cars on the 7300 block of Roosevelt Road on July 11 around 4:30 p.m. The man fled the scene of the accident but was subsequently arrested by responding Oak Park police officers. 

Possession of a controlled substance

Two Indiana men, Ryan Smith of North Manchester and Robert Bolan of Wabash, have each been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance after police officers searched their car parked in the Thornton’s lot, 601 Harlem Ave., on July 9 around 4 p.m. About 11 grams of heroin were found inside the vehicle. Bollan also faces one count of possession of drug equipment. 

Burglary from a motor vehicle

Sometime between July 1 around 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on July 6, a blue International semi-trailer was burglarized while parked in a CTA lot along Van Buren Street. The vehicle’s front passenger side window was smashed but no items were reported stolen. 

Burglary

An unknown individual stole the contents of the cash register at Andrea’s restaurant, 7427 Roosevelt Road, sometime between the late hours of July 7 and the early morning of July 8. Two employees arrived at the establishment around 5:30 a.m. on July 8 and subsequently discovered the building’s east side door had been shattered with the empty register on the floor. The register reportedly contained between $300 and $400.  

Retail theft 

A 33-year-old Forest Park man has been charged with one count of retail theft after attempting to steal a $4 whistle from Walmart, 1300 Desplaines Ave. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on July 8.

Renee Uchwat of Chicago has been charged with one count of felony retail theft after stealing $378.39 worth of baby formula from Ultra Foods, 7520 Roosevelt Road. An unknown man accompanied the 35-year-old woman to the store on July 9 around 5:30 p.m. However, the man drove off in a car before he could be identified.

On July 11 around 5:30 p.m., Barbara Cooper, of Chicago, and Shavelle Beavers, of Bellwood, were each charged with one count of felony retail theft after stealing over $100 of toiletries from the CVS, 7216 Circle Avenue.

Michael Nimock, of Maywood, has been charged with 2 counts of felony retail theft after attempting to steal over $300 of merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Desplaines Avenue, on July 11 around 6 p.m. 

Catalytic converter stolen

A 34-year-old man reported his 2002 black Pontiac Sunfire’s catalytic converter had been removed sometime between July 8 around 9 p.m. and the early morning hours of July 10. The man’s car was parked on the 400 block of Marengo Avenue. 

Bicycles stolen

A 14-year-old’s lime green mountain bike was taken from a garage on the 500 block of Ferdinand Avenue sometime between 8 p.m. on July 8 and 10 a.m. on July 9.

A 64-year-old man locked his bike along the walkway railings at the CTA Blue Line lot, 711 Desplaines Avenue, on July 10 around 7 a.m. Upon returning later that night, he discovered the front wheel had been removed. 

 These items were obtained from police reports filed by the Forest Park Police Department, July 6-12, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Unless otherwise indicated, anybody named in these reports has only been charged with a crime. These cases have not been adjudicated.
