Yearbook’s ‘Study Hall’ events have been held since 2011, typically twice a year. The premise of Yearbook Study Hall events is to create a gathering around a central design theme that lends to seasonal entertaining. Occasionally the events include a speaker as well.
The most recent Study Hall, ‘A Far North Chop House Supper’ was designed to highlight the great food of local restaurant and neighbor, Skrine Chops and also to work collaboratively with friends from Camp Wandawega in Wisconsin who provided a selection of original food products as part of a suitcase of summertime gifts which were raffled off.
Some previous Study Halls included, ‘Whiskey: A Study of the Broth with Quincy Street Distillery in Riverside’, ‘Holiday Champagne in three classic ways’, ‘Sun Deck: A summer party based on classic ocean liners of the 1930s’, and ‘Camp Yearbook’.
Yearbook has also been working with local organizations to hold additional events, including an outdoor movie series in the Yearbook backyard with the Forest Park Public Library, Dog Days with the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce to benefit the Oak Park Animal Care League and shopping events where a portion of sales go to the Forest Park Food Bank.
Yearbook Studios opened in September 2011 to great reviews as being a unique retail and design location for Forest Park and the surrounding area, as well as Chicago.
Yearbook is a combined retail store and design studio which specializes in branding, website design, interior design consulting and original product design. Some of the studio’s original products are available for sale in the store, including Yearbook Y.B. Supply Co. candles, custom designed china, produced by the legendary Homer Laughlin China Company in West Virgina, glassware, custom blankets made by Faribault Woolen Mill in Minnesota and original journals printed right in Forest Park.
The selection of original products sold at Yearbook is always growing and complement other vintage and contemporary wares which are carefully chosen and curated by the Yearbook staff. A combination of academic, industrial and primitive pieces is Yearbook’s signature style. Balancing raw and refined pieces produces the Yearbook look.
The design office, the Yearbook backyard and the store itself are available for private parties which the staff can help to style and create.
