Different cash registers, same results
On July 21, a 19-year-old employee of Walmart, 1300 Desplaines Avenue, was charged with one count of misdemeanor theft after allegedly pocketing nearly $1,000 from the store’s cash registers, specifically the machines she operated during her shifts. The woman is accused of stealing a few hundred dollars at a time and has been subsequently fired. The thefts occurred between July 4 and July 19.
Burglary from motor vehicle
On July 20 around 11 a.m., a 42-year-old employee reported that someone stole a Stihl trimmer from his car parked at Woodlawn Cemetery, 7600 Cermak Road. The value of the landscaping tool is unknown.
A 54-year-old woman reported that someone stole around $30 from her gold 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier sometime during the night of July 23-24. The unlocked car was parked on the 300 block of Desplaines Avenue.
Sometime between July 21 and 23, someone broke into the rear garage of the West Suburban Senior Services Center, 8300 Roosevelt Road. Around 2 p.m. on July 23, an employee discovered the garage’s electrical outlets, lights and wiring had been tampered with. Three garage door motors and a 12-foot ladder were also reported missing. The handicap lift of a parked bus was damaged, too.
A 17-year-old has been charged with one count of burglary from a motor vehicle. On July 26 around 9 a.m., a 48-year-old woman saw the man sitting in her mother’s car parked in back of her house on the 900 block of Circle Avenue. The burglar saw the woman and fled.
A few hours later, he was found on the 1100 block of Gunderson in neighboring Oak Park by Oak Park police officers after a resident reported a “suspicious” man peering into parked cars.
On July 21 around 2 p.m., someone stole a red 1998 Dodge Caravan that was parked on the 7300 block of 13th Street. Inside the car were tools, bottles of oil, and a 4-wheel mobility scooter with 2 ramps, estimated to be worth around $4,000.
On July 25 between 5:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., someone stole a 2000 Chrysler Town and Country that was parked on the 900 block of Circle Avenue. The car’s 28-year-old owner told officers his car was locked.
On July 22 around 6 a.m., an unidentified man wearing all black stole around $700 worth of alcohol, cigarettes and lottery tickets from Suburban Liquors, 7612 Madison St. The burglar was able to enter the store after shattering a front window.
Possession of a controlled substance
Matthew Seisser has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance after his blue 2002 Chevrolet S10 was stopped while traveling westbound on I-290. Officers found 5.1 grams of heroin after searching the 29-year-old’s car on July 23 around 1:30 p.m.
On July 24 authorities charged David Banks, of Milwaukee, with one count of possession of a controlled substance. Police stopped Banks’ 2004 Dodge Neon after he failed to signal a left turn while exiting I-290 at Harlem Avenue. After the 35-year-old and a female passenger gave officers conflicting stories, police discovered 3 MDMA pills, an open bottle of tequila and about a 1 gram of marijuana inside the car.
On July 24 around 3 p.m., Carey Wyatt, of Maywood, was charged with one count of felony aggravated driving without a license after his Ford Windstar was stopped traveling eastbound on I-290. The 79-year-old was given a felony charge after a registration check revealed previous arrests.
These items were obtained from police reports filed by the Forest Park Police Department, July 20-26, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Unless otherwise indicated, anybody named in these reports has only been charged with a crime. These cases have not been adjudicated.
