Forest Park Village Hall has put out an alert after Assistant Village Clerk Sally Cody received four separate calls from seniors about a fraudulent mailing by “Spark Energy,” which is soliciting customers, especially senior citizens, through deception.

According to the public service announcement: “The Village of Forest Park has recently been made aware that the energy company, Spark Energy, is conducting direct mail solicitation pieces to Forest Park seniors and other residents attempting to obtain their business through alarmist and inaccurate information.” (see sample)

The village wants residents to know that the electric aggregation runs through August 2017, so the claim in the letter warning residents that electric aggregation is ending effective August 2015 is false.

“Please do not be duped by this type of false advertising,” the PSA states, “and rest assured that your electric energy aggregation is in full effect until we bid for the lowest cost provider once again in 2017.”
