Dear friends of the Historical Society,

As you may recall, the Historical Society of Forest Park is in discussion with the congregation of First United Church of Forest Park concerning the transfer of ownership of the church’s campus from the congregation to the Historical Society.

The board called for a special meeting of the membership of the Historical Society on Aug. 4, to vote on a motion for the society to purchase the property. The meeting failed to raise a quorum. The meeting adjourned without a vote.

Therefore the board calls for a special meeting of the membership at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at First United Church of Forest Park, 1000 Elgin Ave.

The membership will be asked to vote on a motion for the society to purchase the church campus. The board urges all members of the society to attend the special meeting, to discuss the motion, and to vote on the motion. Members of the society will be mailed a written notice concerning the special meeting. Enclosed in the envelope will be a proxy ballot on the motion. The board asks all members who cannot attend the special meeting on Sept. 9 to vote by proxy and return the proxy ballot to the society no later than Sept. 8.

For those members who have already turned in a proxy vote for the meeting, you do not have to turn in another vote. Your vote has already been counted.

Members of the society who wish to discuss the motion with the board are invited to attend the Aug. 15 board meeting at First United Church at 8 a.m.

Members of the Society are also invited to contact me at either glordan@fenwickfriars.com or 708-386-0127, #340. If you are not a member of the Historical Society but wish to join, please contact me as well.
