This Monday marked the start of a new school year at Betsy Ross. The teachers were excited to see many familiar faces as well as many new ones as students arrived.

Our new kindergarteners have been getting to know each other and their teachers, as well as their new routines and surroundings. Alphabet and number songs can be heard from their classrooms, as well as dancing, clapping, and many wonderful stories being shared.

On the first day of first grade, our students read First Grade Jitters and drank some “jitter juice” for snack. They also “rocked in their school shoes” after reading a primary favorite, Pete the Cat. This is just the beginning of an exciting journey into literacy for these children.

Our second graders have been learning how to be school leaders, focusing on demonstrating Respect, Responsibility, and Safety, the tenants of our PBIS program, throughout the school as role models. They have also started time capsules and memory books that will help them remember their final year at Betsy Ross.

Everyone at Betsy Ross is looking forward to a fantastic school year!
