In case you were the one who didn’t make Father Stan’s party at St. Bernardine last Sunday, you probably didn’t meet our distinguished visitor from Jakarta, Indonesia, Rosmerry Aman. Rosmerry is here with her son, Alejandro Ajufarry, not pictured. (Most Asian women do not take their husband’s name when they marry but keep their father’s name.) I’ll try to find out more about them later.
The reception was a great, friendly happy party with several behind-the-scenes parishioners responsible for the festivities, including cantor David Claudon, lectors Helen Kreidermfacher and Ryan Scott, commentator Julia Doloszycki, gift bearers Antoinette Jumaoas and Sara Strong, altar servers Gavin O’Connor, Jose Pantaleon, Krystyn Raza, and Kal Scollard. Kal’s sister, Mallory, just born July 16, was there with her daddy.
Music was provided by director Jurate Lukminiene and the adult choir. Most impressive was the Bishop John R. Manz presiding. Carol Good must get a mention for all the good she has been doing for St. Bernardine for years. We wish Father Stan a long and happy stay here in Forest Park. The new pope may be bringing in lots of former Catholics, so get ready!
There was a memorial service in honor of Robert Ainley last Thursday evening. The service was held at the VFW here in Forest Park. As you approached the building, you would have thought anything but a memorial service was going on. Loud talking, music, people on the street laughing and having a wonderful time. It was a fitting tribute to this fun-loving man. He was a loving father, devoted husband and all-around nice guy who loved people and fun. His big, happy family includes Susan, Tim, Peggy, Debbie, Lynnie, and Mary. Their mother, Mary Ann preceded her husband in death.
