On Wednesday, October 21, Field-Stevenson joined schools and communities around the world to celebrate Unity Day. Unity Day is an event developed by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center to show support for preventing bullying in schools, neighborhoods, and online.
Students and staff wore orange to raise awareness as they joined together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. In class, students discussed “unity,” how “standing together” makes a safe school and what makes the students unique. They met for a short presentation in the gymnasium given by Dr. Brunson and NEHS members. All students were given the opportunity to let others know what makes them unique. Afterwards, students gathered outside for a balloon release, a symbol of releasing negativity and embracing positivity.
