Quarter 2 – Megan Ford

 

Position: Kindergarten Teacher

 

Years of Service: This is her 9th year of teaching and her second year with Forest Park School District. Megan began her teaching career with Chicago Public Schools and then came to FPSD

 

Education: Megan graduated from Ohio State with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. In 2011, she obtained her National Board Certification in Early Childhood Education. Megan plans to return to school next fall to pursue her Master’s Degree.

 

Special Interests: Megan enjoys cooking, crafts and DIY projects (evidence of which can be spotted around her classroom). Megan got engaged to her fiance Matt over the summer and they will be getting married next summer in Traverse City, MI. Family is a huge part of her life and she has 3 nieces and 2 nephews that she can’t get enough of!

 

Reason for Being Spotlighted: Megan is being spotlighted because she has many strengths as an educator. She has a lot of experience working with the Common Core State Standards and the new educator evaluation tool being used in Forest Park. She also has a great knowledge of technology and puts it to use with the students in her classroom on a regular basis, including the recent district-wide event, Hour of Code, for which she also provided guidance to staff.
