The District 209 Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting for its members to again discuss the possibility of a make-up testing date as part of the district application process for students who want to attend the district’s magnet school.

However, the board’s special meeting could be end before it begins if the board cannot get a quorum of its members to attend, which won’t be confirmed until noon today.

The special meeting of the board will be held at 6:15 p.m., Friday, Jan. 15 at Proviso Math and Science Academy (PMSA), 8601 W. Roosevelt Road in Forest Park.

At the meeting, the board will discuss whether the district can schedule a make-up date for students to take the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test and complete their PMSA essay on Jan. 23, or on another date to be determined at the meeting.

However, the deadline for consideration for admission to PMSA is the close of school on Friday, Jan. 15. For students to be considered for a spot at PMSA in the next school year, students are still required to have the admissions packet completed and turned into the school today, according to District 209 board member Claudia Medina.

For consideration to attend PMSA, students must submit their Explore test results, take the Naglieri test and complete an essay at PMSA on a scheduled testing day and complete and turn in their application packets by the close of PMSA on Jan. 15. The application package includes letters of recommendation, seventh grade transcripts and other documents.
