To help celebrate National Poetry Month, Field-Stevenson’s school librarian, Mr. Mills, invited Paul Orshoski, children’s author and poet, to speak to students about his work as a writer on April 11, 2016.
Mr. Orschoski has published over thirteen children’s books and many of his poems have appeared in poetry anthologies. Sometimes, just getting started writing is the hardest part! Mr. Orscoski read several hilarious poems aloud and discussed how he came up with his ideas. Each example in the presentation highlighted different people and events that gave the author inspiration. His poems really got the kids excited about creative writing. Field-Stevenson students had many questions for the author relating to how to go about getting a book published.
