Stolen vehicle involved in collision

Police, investigating a collision between two vehicles at 11:39 p.m., April 10, in the 200 block of Harlem Avenue, learned one of the vehicles was reported stolen and the driver was not the registered owner. A 57-year-old Desplaines man was charged with criminal trespassing to a vehicle, no insurance, driving on a revoked license, possession of drug equipment and two driving violations. Police notified the Waukegan Police Department of the vehicle’s recovery and the owner was contacted. 

Large Verizon bill from identity theft

A Forest Park man reported an incident of identity theft at 1:40 p.m., April 6 after a collection agency contacted him and told him he owed more than $3,500 to Verizon for his bill. The resident went to the Verizon store and was told someone used his information to open an account at his old address. The amount owned was $3,665 for four new phones and phone lines with different area codes. He was told to file a police report to dispute the charges. 

Sandwich, batteries stolen at CVS

A 52-year-old Chicago man was charged at 3:24 p.m., April 6, with felony retail theft at CVS, 7216 Circle Ave. Police said the man placed several items, including a sandwich, batteries and lotion in his pocket and left the store. Police stopped the man and found a total of $66.75 worth of items that had not been paid for. The man was charged with felony retail theft due to prior convictions for retail theft. 

Tesla damaged by sharp object

A 2104 Tesla Model S was reported damaged at 8:08 a.m., April 10 in the 400 block of Circle Avenue. Police found that a sharp tool was used to scratch the hood and driver’s side doors while it was unoccupied. 

Gun stolen

A Beretta .380 pistol was reported stolen at 9:47 p.m., April 8 from a home in the 300 block of Circle Avenue after the owner discovered it was missing. 

Marijuana possession

A 37-year-old St. Charles man was charged at 5:22 p.m., April 6 with possession of marijuana at Interstate 290 and First Avenue. Police stopped the man for using a cellphone while driving and located small bag of marijuana after the officer smelled burnt marijuana from inside the car. The man was cited for marijuana possession and possession of drug equipment. 

Vehicles burglarized

A vehicle was reported burglarized at 8:21 a.m., April 7 in the 1400 block of Elgin Avenue. Two boxes were stolen, which contained a bender and a hydraulic switcher kit valued together at $900.

A vehicle was reported burglarized at 9:40 a.m., April 7 in the 900 block of Ferdinand Avenue. Stolen was a handheld scanner worth $2,000. 

Package stolen

A package containing an order from zappos.com was reported stolen at 5:55 p.m., April 7 in the 7700 block of Monroe Street. The loss was estimated at $200. 

Liquor stolen

A case of six bottles of Remmy Martin VSOP was reported stolen at 11:40 a.m., April 7 from Famous Liquors, 7714 Madison St. Police were told a man in the store walked out with the case and left in a waiting vehicle. Police said the man is believed to have been involved in previous retail theft incidents at the store. The loss was valued at $540. 

Wallet stolen while shopping

A woman reported her wallet was stolen from her purse at 1:59 p.m. April 4 while she was shopping at Ultra Foods, 7520 Roosevelt Road. The woman said she looked in her purse and saw the wallet was missing, which contained identification, bank cards, a prepaid Visa card and about $4 in cash. 

Tablet computer stolen

A tablet computer was reported stolen at 7:58 p.m., April 6 while the owner was at the Forest Park Library, 7555 Jackson Boulevard, and left it unattended. The loss was estimated at $700. 

Felony driving while license revoked

A 27-year-old Chicago man was charged after a traffic stop at 5:47 p.m., April 4 at Maple Avenue and Madison Street in Oak Park. Police stopped the driver for having expired registration and learned the license was revoked for a previous DUI conviction. The man was charged with felony driving while license revoked for having expired registration. 

Man swings bottle at officer

A 66-year-old man with no known address was charged at 1:24 p.m., April 5 in the 7700 block of Madison Street after police said he swung a bottle at an officer. An officer on patrol saw the man lying down in an alley behind the 7700 block of Madison Street with the smell of alcohol on him. The officer asked the man to be on his way, noting he seemed drunk. When the officer approached, police said the man swung a large bottle in an attempt to hit the officer. The officer stopped the man and he was charged with disorderly conduct. 

 These items were obtained from police reports filed by the Forest Park Police Department, April 4-10, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Unless otherwise indicated, anybody named in these reports has only been charged with a crime. These cases have not been adjudicated.
