Quarter 4 – Nicole White

Position: Fourth Grade Science/Social Studies Teacher

Years of Service: Nicole has been teaching for four years and has loved every moment. She began her career teaching 2nd and 3rd grade on the west side of Chicago. She had the chance to teach 4th grade science and social studies in Forest Park two years ago and immediately took the opportunity. Nicole said it, “has been a fantastic experience working with the awesome students, families, and educational colleagues in this district!”

Education: Nicole received her B.A. in Communication and M.S.Ed. in Elementary Education from Northwestern University. She is currently working on a Curriculum & Instruction master’s degree at Olivet Nazarene University.

Special interests: She love traveling, spending time with friends and family, exploring Chicago’s restaurant scene, reading, and attending sporting events.

Reason for being spotlighted: Nicole White is an extraordinary teacher, she has set very high expectations for her students and they have exceeded her expectations. She has formed strong relationships with her students and shows each of them that she cares about both their social emotional and academic growth.  She is always well prepared, very organized and has created a positive classroom culture.  She has taken on the challenge of leading our new Science Club in partnership with the Museum of Science and Industry which has been so popular that we had more interest than we had slots. She is already preparing to expand the program next year to accommodate more students. She is a true team player, is well respected by her colleagues, consistently displays excellence, works judiciously to improve her craft and understands the connection between preparation time and content knowledge. In addition to making great teaching appear effortless and seamless she has a wonderful personality and great smile! We are very pleased to have her as  part of our school and our district.
