Happy Arts in Education Week! At Betsy Ross, we are lucky to have a wonderful arts program. Music and art are a big part of our school community because of Mrs. Binder and Ms. Skelton.

Ms. Skelton has been teaching for 22 years, 20 in Forest Park. She knew she wanted to be an art teacher in 8th grade, so she’s living her dream! She loves taking her students on field trips to see some of the great art in Chicago. Her favorite trip was a 2007 exhibit in Millenium Park- the Museum of Modern Ice Installation. The children were so happy, it ended in a dance party under The Bean! In her free time, she loves to garden and cook Sunday dinners for her family.

Mrs. Binder has been teaching for 14 years, 9 in Forest Park. She loved music as a student, and initially wanted to be a band director before discovering her love of elementary teaching. While she loves everything about teaching music, her favorite unit is drums, which she has studied herself for years. Mrs. Binder also teaches Music Education at DePaul, and loves to cook in her free time.

Our arts teachers make Betsy Ross a brighter place!
