If you can teach something, it means you understand it, so having students teach each other is a great way for them to learn. This week, our second graders completed slide presentations about bats, which they will share with other students. By researching and creating their presentations, they were able to learn a lot about bats. One student got some extra practice by presenting to his former teacher’s kindergarten class. The kindergarten students were a great audience, listening closely and asking thoughtful questions. The second grader presenting did a fantastic job explaining echolocation! Once the presentation was over, he decided on his own to create a bat diorama, including a water source and flying and sleeping bats. It’s safe to say that this research project inspired the students who worked on it and those who learned from them!
