On Thursday, March 9, Mr. McElligott, Grant-White’s math coach, hosted a parent math night workshop at Grant-White. At this workshop, parents were invited to participate in a variety of hands on fun and informative math activities to help them learn ways to support the learning of mathematics and how the Standards for Mathematical Practice support that learning.
A variety of initiatives have taken place this year at Grant-White, including math fluency interviews, classroom coaching visits from our Metro-Chicago Math Initiative coach Ms. Kitty, CGI (cognitively guided instruction) sessions in classrooms, and upcoming cross school visits by classroom teachers to observe each other in action.
