The vote taken by the U.S. House of Representatives last Thursday to repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with an ill-considered patchwork of unproven legislation is a disgrace to the legislative process. The U.S. representatives who voted for this legislation should be ashamed of themselves.

We do not know if they read the bill or if they understood clearly what they were voting for. They did not even wait for the bill to be scored so that its real effects could be understood. I fear that the timing of this vote was cynically designed to distract the media and the public from the investigations into Russian interference with the 2016 election, including possible collusion with the Trump campaign.

I urge all citizens to pay attention at this critical time in our history. Educate yourself about the facts of these situations and put pressure on our Congressional delegation to act in the best interests of all Americans.

A quick Google search will take you to the contact pages for senators Richard Durbin and Tammy Duckworth and Representative Danny Davis.
