AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AND UNLAWFUL USE OF WEAPON

A 26-year-old Forest Park man was arrested June 10 around 2 a.m. after pointing a gun at a 44-year-old neighbor on the 1400 block of Marengo. The 44-year-old, according to police, went outside his home to apologize after a friend of his parked his car accidently on the 26-year-old’s property. After knocking at a side door, the 26-year-old reportedly took out a semi-automatic handgun and started yelling at the 44-year-old, who then ran back into the alleyway.  The 26-year-old followed but the 44-year-old got back into his own garage and was able to call police. Police responded and took the 26-year-old into custody.

BRICK MEETS WINDOW

Someone threw a landscaping brick through the dining room window of a home on the 1100 block of Hannah Avenue on June 11 around 8 p.m. The 57-year-old resident told police he was sitting in his living room when he heard the brick come through the window. The 57-year-old ran outside and saw an unknown person walking away. He called out but the person did not respond. A neighbor also reportedly saw an unknown person walking with a brick “moments before the incident” but police searched the area and didn’t find any one. No injuries were reported. 

BATTERY

On June 9 around 1 a.m. an unknown man, described in a police report as “dark complexion, with a short faded hair style” assaulted a McDonald’s employee after he was told the fast food spot, 420 Des Plaines Avenue, was closed. The man, driving a green 1998 Ford sedan according to the report, started to yell obscenities, tried to punch the employee through the drive-thru window and yanked the employee’s arm through the opening. The employee managed to break free and shut the window.  

ATTEMPTED THEFT

Sometime between 5 p.m. on June 8 and 9 a.m. on June 9, someone tried to steal the an  air conditioner unit from behind an office building on the 7400 block of Madison Street. According to a police report, a 46-year-old employee found the air conditioner “partially pried off the ground,” with several wires cut. There is no surveillance video available. A repair estimate was no available either.

CATALYTIC CONVERTER TAKEN

Someone stole the catalytic converter from a parked 2011 Ford Escape on the 200 block of Elgin during the night of June 9. According to the report, the “cut appears clean as if done by a saw.”

BIKE MISSING

A 68-year-old resident of the 500 block of Marengo told police his blue 10-speed Sakei bike went missing from his garage between 9 a.m. on June 6 and 9 p.m. on June 7.
