Proviso East (0-6) played Hinsdale South rather evenly in the first quarter, but eventually big plays by the Hornets and mistakes by the Pirates led to a 51-6 defeat. Hinsdale South quarterback Justin Kolzow’s quick strike touchdown passes of 59, 59 and 25 yards made it impossible for East to sustain any momentum. The Pirates lone touchdown came on a beautiful 25-yard touchdown pass from Kurt Sturghill to Lateak Hunt that followed a gutsy pass completion on a fake punt. The defense was able to get up field tallying 6 tackles for a loss and 1 sack, but in the end, they were too vulnerable to the big play. This Saturday the Pirates gear up for their Homecoming matchup with cross township rival Proviso West.
