Someone fired more than 20 bullets into a Forest Park home on the night of Dec. 12, a shooting that police believe was specifically targeted.

Multiple residents in the 1000 block of Circle Avenue called police about 11:53 p.m. about “shots fired,” according to a statement issued by the Forest Park police department. Officers arrived at 1021 Circle Ave. and found several bullet casings in the street and on the parkway. At least 24 shots were fired into the two-flat.

Occupants living on the first floor of the two-flat told police they were watching TV when bullets came flying through the residence, striking the ceiling, walls and television. A witness told police they heard about 10 shots and watched a man run to a four-door sedan, which faced northbound in front of a house across the street.

No injuries were reported.

“Detectives are presently conducting an in-depth investigation, working with the landlord and scouring the neighborhood for further witnesses or any video footage that might shed some light on the identity of the offenders in this reckless shooting,” the statement said.

Detectives believe the shooting was not a random act of violence and are working to establish a motive.
