Community Center donates 160 dinners, toys for Christmas
Forest Park’s Howard Mohr Community Center delivered 160 dinners and presents as part of its annual Holiday Food and Toy Drive Dec. 22. All toys came from Mayor Anthony Calderone’s annual Toy Drive and McGaffers Saloon’s Toys for Tots fundraiser. For Christmas dinner, families received a ham—with all the fixin’s, said center director Karen Dylewski—as well as dessert. Each child received several toys. Forest Park firefighters were among those who volunteered their time to help load and pack boxes to deliver to families. “There are so many people who volunteer with food drives to help us keep our pantry full and be able to feed so many at this time of year,” Dylewski said. “We really could not do this without the support of this great community.”
