After Hours Family Sock Hop
The Forest Park Public Library is hosting a retro-style dance party at 5 p.m., Feb. 3 at 7555 Jackson Blvd. Spread the love by bringing a donation of new socks for Housing Forward, a nonprofit that provides services for the homeless. Canning 101
Learn the fundamentals of canning in a hands-on demo with veteran gardener Anna Stange. Both water bath and pressure canning tips and techniques will be discussed. The group will prepare and can organic seasonal produce, which will be avaialable for tasting at the conclusion of the program. Author Discussion with Jeffrey Siger
Join author Jeffrey Siger for a talk and sign about his new book An Aegean April, which tells the story of a murder of man known for helping refugees on Lesvos island. Discussion begins at 7 p.m., Feb. 2 at Centuries & Sleuths

Chicago Freedom Movement
In honor of Black History Month, speaker Bernard Turner will talk at 7 p.m., Feb. 5 at 7555 Jackson Blvd. on how local organizations focused on equal and fair housing, better schools and economic equality advanced the civil rights movement. Get tickets at fppl.org.
Daddy-Daughter Dance
Dads, uncles, grandfathers, take your girl age 4 to 12 and get ready for a country-western Daddy-Daughter Dance. Breaded Pork Tenderloin Fundraiser
