Construction crews are still installing and overhauling the Park District of Forest Park’s Roos Recreation Center, a new 15,000-square-foot community space, set to open May 26.

Workers recently added cabinets, sinks and counter space to the 1,000-square-foot multipurpose room, along with such audio visual features as a projector. Residents will be able to rent out the room for company events, birthday parties and more.

Cabinets and lighting were installed in the fitness room. Fitness room amenities include: Cardio and strength-training equipment, free weights, locker rooms, showers and  ActivTrax computerized personal training programs. Memberships for the fitness room are currently being sold at the main office of the park.

Flooring for the gymnasium should be arriving next week and will be installed by the end of the month. The gym measures about 8,226 square feet.

Construction is set to be done in mid-April, giving park district employees time to decorate and deep clean before the center’s grand opening in May.
