Hot off their Friday night 79-42 victory over the Lady Eagles of Leyden, the Lady Pirates faced off at Proviso West for the annual One Proviso Basketball Showdown in the main gym.
For the fourth year in a row, the Lady Pirates, coached by Ezra PridGeon, have secured the West Suburban Conference Gold title, and once again are undefeated in the Conference and 24-2 overall. The depth of talent on this team makes them a dominant force on the court.
The Lady Pirates lead 30-7 at the half, but the Panthers persevered under the pressure and fought back closing in with Kasharri Moore (10 points), Jah’Nari Byrdlong (8 points) and three-point shooter, Josylin Simmons- Doxie (9 points). The depth of leadership on the Lady Pirates is striking, as three senior guards hit double-digits Daliyah Brown (16 points), Keiasha Rimmer (12 points), and Kyla Richardson (10 points) each. At the conclusion of the game, the Lady Pirates had the lead 62-41.
The Glenbard West Hilltoppers (10-1-0), clinched the West Suburban Silver Division on Friday, and will host the Lady Pirates, (13-0-0; 24-2) on Wednesday, February 7th at 7pm in Glen Ellyn for the West Suburban Conference Crossover Championship.
