The Proviso East Pirates hosted the Midwest Classic on Saturday, which produced stunning results. The Pirates finished first overall in the 16-team field.    

Forest Parker Moses Ikechukwu Biosah, senior, led the 55-meter dash with a 6.55 time, the 200-meter dash at 23.32, and the 400-meter dash with 51.55. Deonte Bryant, took third in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.76, and third in the 200-meter dash with 23.60. Pirates also dominated the 600-meter run, led by Jamonte Flowers at 1:25:51. 

The Proviso East 4 x 400-meter relay, featuring Jamonte Flowers, Donte Love, Jaramia Sowell and Troy Blaylock, finished a full 4½ seconds ahead of Rockford East with a blazing time of 3:36:57. Deonte Bryant nailed a 21-05.00 long jump, earning a second place finish. With two freshmen in their foursome, the Pirates’ Camilo Medina, Donovan Davis, Erick Lozano and Jaden Smith placed second in the varsity 4 x 800-meter relay with a time of 8:40.02. 

The freshman/sophomore squad were on fire, too, leading the 4 x 200-meter relay of Corey Mason, Isaiah Tyler, Devon Lee and Junaid Oladipo with a time 1:36.54 and the 4 x 800-meter relay included second-place finishers Corey Mason, Willie Rouse, Robert Hunter and Devon Lee.
