Thomas Roy Mohr, 70, died unexpectedly from a heart attack in his home on April 15, 2018. Born in Oak Park on April 22, 1947 to Howard and Ruth (Sanderson) Mohr, he grew up in Forest Park and spent his summers on Delavan Lake in Wisconsin. His love for the lake made for an easy decision to move to the lake permanently. He and his wife, Chris, enjoyed many adventures together and there was never a dull moment with Tom. He was forever a kid at heart, telling stories and jokes. The couple owned and operated Mohr of the Wagon Wheel in the late ’70s and early ’80s and Mohr Pier Service for 32 years. For the last six years he enjoyed retirement. He also enjoyed driving around town, visiting with friends, and sharing his passion for old cars and car shows. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Thomas Mohr is survived by his wife, Christine Mohr; his children, Tom (Sylvia) Gottschalk, Amy (Marcus) Hackney, and Abbie Mohr; his grandchildren, Holly and Eric Mohr, Izabel Gottschalk and Brooklyn and Cole Hackney; his brother, Mike (Maureen) Mohr; and his mother-in-law, Jane Kent. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Patti Basso; and his father-in-law, Gordon Kent.
His family will receive friends for a celebration of life at the American Legion Hall at 111 S. Second St., across from Betzer Funeral Home, in Delavan, Wisconsin for remembrances of Tom and refreshments from 2 until 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 19.
Interment will be at the Delavan Arboretum.
