Choosing to Die at Home: A Conversation with Tom Holmes

Forest Park Review’s own Tom Holmes will join psychotherapist and hospice worker Rosemary Salerno for a talk about choosing to die at home. Holmes will also read an essay from his 2017 book “The Soul of a Liberal Village: The Variety of Religious Experience in Oak Park, IL.” Talk starts at 10:30 a.m. on April 26 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. 

Rummage Sale

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! The American Legion Post 414 will host a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 28 at 500 Circle Avenue. Reserve a table ($25) by calling Debra at 708-366-1929. 

Garage Sale

The Park District of Forest Park is turning its parking lot into a shopping center! Clean out your closet and sell your used baby clothes, toys, games, collectibles and more. Sale starts at 8 a.m. on April 28 at 7501 W. Harrison St. Reservations required to sell, call 708-366-7500. 

Kids’ Market Pop-Up Play

Kids aged 5 and under are invited to shop at the Forest Park Public Library’s pretend grocery store pop-up. Fun starts at 10:30 a.m. on April 27 at 7555 Jackson Blvd. 

Mandalas and Meditation

Learn what mandalas are, the basics on how to make one and how the process of creating one is a form of focused meditation. No drawing skills necessary, all supplies provided. Crafting starts at 7 p.m. May 2 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. 

Future Leaders Now

Teens are invited to meet with local organizations to gain valuable advice on job skills, current and future openings and more. Career fair starts at 12 p.m. on April 28 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd.
