Pizza Pizzaz
Children ages 5 to 8 are invited to learn the basics of pizza-making with Ms. Sandy Byrnes. From dough to sauce to toppings, attendees are guaranteed to leave the class a pizza master. All supplies will be provided by the Park District of Forest Park. Participants should bring a container to carry food home. $15 for residents, $20 for non-residents. Class runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on August 2 on the second floor of the administrative building at the Park District, 7501 Harrison.

Hear author Val Bruech read a section from her book “Judicious Murder,” a story about a defense attorney committed to figuring out who killed her former trial partner. Talk starts at 2 p.m. o August 5 at Centuries & Sleuths Bookstore, 7419 Madison St.

Hear author Julia Buckley read a section from her book “A Dark and Twisting Path (A Writer’s Apprentice Mystery),” a tale about a writers apprentice who discovers a murder in small-town Indiana. Talk starts at 2 p.m. on August 4 at Centuries & Sleuths Bookstore, 7419 Madison St.
Writers Circle
Iowa writers’ workshop alum Beth Wetmore will lead a workshop for writers at all levels at 7 p.m. on August 1 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd.
Strong by Zumba
Strong by Zumba is a high-intensity interval training class that uses traditional moves for a more athletic, conditioning workout. Classes run every Wednesday from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., from July 11 to August 11, at the Park District of Forest Park, 7501 Harrison St. Residents pay $35; Non-residents $40; and drop-in classes cost $8 each.
St. John Corn Boil

Rise N’ Learn
Rena McDaniel, a gender and sex therapist, will present “Gender and Sexual Diversity: Exploring the Galaxy of Identities” at 9 a.m. on August 3 at Riveredge Hospital, 8311 W. Roosevelt Rd. The free workshop will outline concepts related to gender and sexual identity, with a focus on transgender and non-conforming individuals.
Pig Roast
Pig out at the ninth Pig Roast benefitting the TK Camp Fund, a fundraiser for children who suffer from Crohn’s Disease and Colitis. $40 ticket buys unlimited food and drinks. Garage Galleries
Walk the town and take in art during the fifth Garage Galleries, where neighbors turn their garages into galleries that showcase local artists wares. Walk runs from 2 to 7 p.m. on August 25 at Creativita, 7512 Madison St.
