Forest Park District 91’s public relations and communications manager, Rebecca Latham, resigned from that post, effective Aug. 10.
Latham served in the role for nearly three years, starting in Oct. 2015 with an annual salary of $55,000 and benefits. She has taken a position as director of communications at Deerfield District 109.
“Thank you guys for everything; this has been the best job that I could’ve asked for,” Latham said at a school board meeting on Aug. 9. “Coming into this without having the position set prior to me coming in, it’s been awesome to work with you guys and to kind of create it.”
During her time at D91, Latham organized the district’s new logo contest, managed 12 social media accounts, the school websites and more, according to her LinkedIn profile. Although she will be out of the position by the time of D91’s Back to School Block Party, scheduled for 5 p.m. on Aug. 16 at Forest Park Middle School (FPMS), 925 Beloit Ave., she will still attend the party to make sure everything goes as planned. The Children’s Clinic will provide free dental screenings at the party; the first 50 students who register at each school will receive free ice cream, courtesy of Brown Cow Ice Cream Parlor at the event; and H&R Block will hand out free child safety kits.
“I tried my best,” Latham said at the board meeting.
Supt. Lou Cavallo said D91 is in the process of filling the position.
At the meeting, he also said the district is still looking for a sixth grade English Language Arts teacher at FPMS, two special education instructional assistants at Betsy Ross Elementary School, and two special education instructional assistants at FPMS.
