Oktoberfest
Join officials from the Howard Mohr Community Center in celebrating Oktoberfest from 9:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 at The Jacob Henry Estate in Joliet. Enjoy an authentic German lunch; listen to traditional Bavarian, Austrian and Slovenian Polka Music; and spend an hour at Hollywood Casino. $85 residents; $89 non-residents. Reservations required. Explore Forest Park: Carver Innovation Center
Explore the Carver Innovation Center with officials from the Forest Park Public Library, and learn how inventors, small businesses and hobbyists can create with a 3D printer, Laser designer and cutter and a signage vinyl cutter. Fun runs from 7 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the Carver Innovation Center, 7600 W. Roosevelt Rd.
Dodgeball Tournament and Chili & Beer Fest

Booktoberfest Author Fair and Family Lit Fest
Meet some eight local authors and discover new reads for those of all ages. Families can join officials from the Forest Park Public Library for a Booktoberfest storytime, followed by a musical performance by performer Nick Davio. Fest runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 6 at 7555 Jackson Blvd.
The History Discussion Group
Discuss “Isabella: The Warrior Queen” with history buffs from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 30 at Centuries & Sleuths Bookstore, 7419 Madison St.
Ghost
The traveling seniors of Forest Park will head to Theater at the Center from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 26 for a production of Ghost, a musical adaptation to the 1990 Academy Award-winning love story. Family Day of Play
Join officials from the Forest Park Public Library for a LEGO open build, recyclable construction challenge, indoor obstacle course and more, from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 30 at 7555 Jackson Blvd. Ages 10 and under. Show staff your library card for a chance to win a free door prize.
