In an October 2nd letter to the Editor titled “Don’t Repeat the Mistake of Prohibition”, author Bridget Lane asserted that a portion of the money taken in by the State of Illinois from video gamble profits funded treatment for addicted gamblers. That program ended in 2015.
So anyone who has a gambling addiction or develops a new addiction to video gambling has no social safety net. Zero.
In other words, “Thanks for your money and too bad you got this problem but hey come back any time!”
Please note: The Forest Park Review has updated Ms. Lane’s letter to correct the error.
