On October 24th, students at Field-Stevenson along with schools across the nation participated in Unity Day to take action and to prevent bullying in schools. Dressed in orange and sharing orange Shark bites and wristbands, staff and students sent a message that they stand together against bullying.
At lunchtime, students sat with peers across grade levels to share table conversation and learn about each other. Naturally, friendships formed. Ms. Nessinger, an instructional assistant, was on the playground when one of her students came up and proudly exclaimed “Look! I made a new friend!”
PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center started Unity Day in 2011 to demonstrate that we are together against bullying. At Field-Stevenson, staff and students are united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion of all.
