Twisted Cookie and the Forest Park Fire Department have partnered in a fundraiser to support the food pantry at the Howard Mohr Community Center, to be held from 12 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 10 at 7401 Madison St. Twisted Cookie owner Joana Fischer said the fundraiser was the firefighters’ idea, and four of Forest Park’s finest will be whipping up milk shakes, lattes and more behind the counter. Twenty percent of all proceeds from the day will benefit the fundraiser. She said firefighters will be getting a master lesson before serving customers.
“We want to make sure the milkshakes they’re going to be giving are good,” she joked. “They’ll be making hot chocolate, lattes, milkshakes, cookies and sundaes, whatever. Anything we serve there, that’s what they’re going to do.”
Two fire trucks will also be parked outside Twisted Cookie for kids to marvel at. In addition to donating a portion of the proceeds, Twisted Cookie will also accept checks and non-perishable goods for the community center. The group’s goal is to raise about $5,000; so far, Fischer said she’s collected $800, in addition to several non-perishable goods.
“It’s important for all of us to support each other because that’s how we all succeed,” she said.
