Animal Care League Holiday Bazaar

Get pictures of your pet with Santa, participate in a raffle, enjoy live music and much more during the weekend of Nov. 30 to Dec. 2. The Bazaar will run from 3 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 30; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 1; and 11 a.m to 3 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the Animal Care League, 1003 Garfield in Oak Park.

Model Railroad Showcase

Drop in the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd., any time on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 to see an extensive display of model trains presented by the Chicago LEGO Users Group.

Christmas With a Cause

Enjoy McGaffer’s annual “Christmas With a Cause” at 3 p.m. on Dec. 1 to 2 a.m. on Dec. 2 at 7737 Roosevelt Rd. Bring an unwrapped toy. Proceeds will benefit Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Hines Fischer House, Opportunity Knocks and many other organizations.  

NaNoWriMo Ask A Writer

Local author Maria Maxham will help prospective novelists sort through writer’s block, thorny plot issues, character development and more from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 29 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. 

Chilly Chili Night

Forest Park District 91 schools Board of Education members will be handing out free bowls of chili from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the District Office parking lot, 424 Desplaines Ave. 

Movie Screening: Polar Express

Enjoy a free screening of the holiday classic “Polar Express” from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 1 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd.

Teen Makery

Teens can explore all things Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics, or “STEAM,” from 4 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd.

Scrooge the Comedy

From 8:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 6, spend the day with officials from the Howard Mohr Community Center, travelling to White Pines Playhouse to see “Scrooge the Comedy.” Lunch included. $75 residents; $79 non-residents. Knitting With Friends

Join officials from the Forest Park Public Library for a drop-in knitting group to help stock the Little Free Pantry with warm clothes for the winter. Beginning and advanced knitters welcome. If you bring your own yarn with needles, please make it washable yarn. Knitting runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 at 7555 Jackson Blvd.
