During a regular meeting on March 12, the Proviso Township High Schools District 209 school board voted to approve the hiring of a new assistant superintendent/chief school business officer — roughly two months after the person who was previously hired in the position abruptly withdrew his name from consideration.

Paul Starck-King resigned his position as assistant superintendent of finance and operations for Oak Park Elementary Schools District 97 to accept the position in D209. His last day at D97 is April 12.

The board approved a 1-year contract, with an annual salary of $160,000. His retirement contributions will be deducted from his salary.

District 209’s Financial Oversight Panel was poised to approve Starck-King’s employment contract at its meeting on March 27.

Starck-King’s hiring comes a few months after the district hired Michael Tanner in the position. The board approved an employment contract for Tanner on Jan. 8. On Jan. 23, Tanner backed out of consideration.
