Herman H. Hann’s grocery store was progressive, selling fine foods and fancy groceries.
Herman Hann was a young clerk at Damman’s Grocery Store and later opened his own fine grocery store at Des Plaines and Madison.
Located at the southwest corner of Harlem and Franklin, this store served the local area with provisions.
Provisions were sold to locals at Damman’s Grocery Store, located at Franklin and Harlem, now the parking lot for ATI, back in the 1880s. One of the earliest settlers of Harlem, Herman Hann, could be found as a clerk around this time. Herman would go on to open his own grocery store at DesPlaines and Madison. His store, Herman H Hann, was said to sell fine groceries and fancy meats.
