Join library officials for the 5th annual Book Swap and Ice Cream Social, from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 23 at the Brown Cow Ice Cream Parlor, 7347 Madison St. Bring a book in good condition that you would like to share, choose another neighbor’s book and receive a free scoop of ice cream while supplies last. Property Tax Appeal Seminar
The Proviso Township Assessors Office will discuss how to appeal your property taxes at 6:30 p.m. on July 24 at the Howard Mohr Community Center, 7640 Jackson Blvd. Attendees are encouraged to bring their property tax bill, property identification number and assessment notice. The seminar is sponsored by the village and Proviso Township
Open House
The Progress Center for Independent Living will hold its annual Open House from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on July 25 at the Progress Center, 7521 Madison St. At noon, they will serve food from the grill, and staff members will talk about their work at the Progress Center. After the Open House, members can attend a planning meeting for an upcoming town hall about young adults with disabilities at 3:30 p.m.
Housing Forward Trivia Night
Housing Forward will host its ninth annual trivia night at 7 p.m. on August 22 at Healy’s Westside, 7321 Madison St. The nonprofit’s goal is to raise at least $20,000 to support programs and services designed to end homelessness. Visit housingforward.org/events/trivia-night
Stoop Sessions
The Forest Park Arts Alliance will hold its first-ever “Stoop Sessions” concert on the porch of 1529 Elgin Ave. on August 19. Daniel and Sarah Gasse, owners of the Gasse School of Music, will perform for a crowd. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to the concert.
