Thirty years after purchasing Chicago Parent magazine, Wednesday Journal Inc. sold the publication in August to Zoe Communications Group, a Detroit-based publisher of parenting magazines, including Metro Parent in Detroit.
“We have loved publishing Chicago Parent all these years,” said Dan Haley, publisher of the Journal and its sister publications the Austin Weekly News, Forest Park Review and Riverside-Brookfield Landmark. “Now as we turn our focus completely to our four community publications, we’ve delivered Chicago Parent into the passionate and innovative hands of our long-time colleagues in Detroit, Alexis Bourkoulas and Julia Elliott. They’ll be joined by several of our now former colleagues including Tamara O’Shaughnessy, our terrific editor, and Karen Skinner and Lourdes Nicholls, two long-time Oak Park and River Foresters.”
In the weeks ahead, Wednesday Journal Inc. will announce additional changes which will strengthen and expand the strong role it plays in each of the seven neighborhoods it currently serves.
