Cemetery bus tour
Join the Forest Park Historical Society on a bus tour of the town’s oldest cemetery. Local historian and author Ken Knack will delight and educate participants about Concordia Cemetery. Comedy for a cause
Enjoy a night of comedy, featuring national and local stand-up performers Sohrab Forouzesh, Whitney Chitwood, Carly Kane, Tim Brennan and Jack Backer at the 3rd Faux Pas Comedy event. Sponsored by the Forest Park Arts Alliance, this hilarious night will raise funds for the planned mural near the Roos Recreation Center. Rock out to Dig Engine
Forest Park Arts Alliance hosts its fifth Stoop Session featuring the band Dig Engine on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at 905 Elgin Ave. Dig Engine writes original songs that capture and reveal their collective influcences: hardcore, jazz and straight out radio rockers. Bring a chair or picnic blanket.
Halloween Hoot n’ Howl
Join the River Forest Park District, Trailside Museum and the River Forest Public Library for an evening of fall family fun. Children ten and under and their parents are invited to this FREE fun event! Activities will include live music, pumpkin painting, spooky stories, a bonfire, a night safari flashlight hike, taxidermy and activities with Nature Cat from PBS Kids. Library programs continue offsite
Despite much of the Forest Park Library being closed while renovations are completed, programming continues offsite. For kids, there’s Babybugs Lapsit Storytime at 9:30 a.m. every Tuesday; Toddler Storytime at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays; Hello Amigos! Storytime on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.; Merry Math Makers Storytime on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.; and Exploration Station Storytime on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. All storytime programs will be at the Howard Mohr Community Center, 7640 Jackson Blvd.
